| FAQ - Water Slides |
| Which standards apply to water slides? |
| EN1069 applies to water slides of a height of more than 200 cm; EN1176 still applies to lower heights. |
| Why do water slides have to be made of higher-grade V4A steel? |
| Water slides do not necessarily have to be made of the higher-alloyed stainless steel V4A. This is only required if they are installed in chlorine water or in the proximity of the sea. These places allow the application of only high-alloyed stainless steel V4A (1.4571 oder 1.4404 / 316 TI or 316 L), since it is only this material that is sufficiently resistant against the aggressive chlorine and salt constituents in these media. Therefore, in the case of natural swimming pools or other natural freshwater bodies, the stainless steel quality of V2A (1.4301 / 304) can be applied. |

| Water slides- with or without water? |
| Water supply can be waived in the case of small and straight water slides of up to 2 m in height and of an appropriate gradient. But it is required in the case of all other slides. |
| What water quantity is required? |
| The respectively required quantity of water is dependent on various factors, such as the length, the type and the gradient of the slide. As a rule of thumb for determining the required amount of water, the following equation can be applied: slide width x 350 = litre/min. |
| What pump or supply line is required? |
| The required pump capacity and the cross-section of the supply line are dependent on many factors, such as the required amount of water, length of the supply line and cross-section, respectively, and delivery height. We recommend you to approach atlantics for help in determining the required pump capacity and supply line. |
| Is a safety area required for water slides at their slide exit? |
| Yes, with water slides this area is the so-called plunging or dive-in area, which is determined to be a safety area at the slide exit. The required size and marking of this plunging area depends on the type of slide. Should the existing swimming pool not provide for sufficient space for such a plunging area, there is the possibility to install a slide with an integrated plunging basin, separate from the swimming pool. |
